Main Stage Speaker Topic Selection Policy

  1. Introduction

    An essential component of the Main Stage Program shall be speakers. Speaker topics may address a variety of issues but shall align with the mission and values of SF Pride. More than a single speaker on one topic should will be permitted on a case-by-case basis to avoid repetition of programming. Special attention shall be given to programming that reflects timely and critical topics and identities impacting the LGBTQI+ community. , and also be mindful of important need for topics of particular community health and wellness. The selection of speakers should also reflect the diversity of our SF Pride communities.

  2. Number

There shall be a goal of four (4) Saturday speakers and three (3) Sunday speakers. There must, however, be flexibility to add or subtract from this number in the event of cancellation or the emergence of an issue of importance. Each SF Pride celebration day shall have no fewer than two (2) speakers and no more than four (4) speakers. The number of speakers may increase or decrease in the event of cancellation or the emergence of important issues.

  1. Selection of Topics

Two (2) of the Saturday speakers topics shall be chosenmay be informed by the general membership and two (2) by the Board. Two (2) of the Sunday speaker topics shall may be informed be chosen by the general membership. The third speaker topic shall be selected by the Board.

  1. Selection of Speakers

    Selection of speakers will be done by the Executive Director with approval by the Board.

  2. Timing

The General Membership shall make its selectionshall submit any topic suggestions by the January meeting each year and the Board shall make its final selection submit their topic suggestions at the May Board meeting.
